What do you enjoy about your job?
Providing relief to the families, making sure the arrangements have been taken care of in a comforting way that suits them and their family. It gives me peace to know I have made a difference.

How long have you been a funeral arranger?
Since in 2017, after remembering my grandma saying to me, “Kristy, the day you realise you are a guardian angel in training is the day you will find happiness.”

What do you enjoy in your spare time?
When I have time, I like to bake as I love to sweeten everyone up! Also sewing, not that I’m a great sewer, but it reminds me of my grandma as she was an amazing woman and my biggest role model. She taught me how to sew. It takes me to my happy place.

Are there any special community groups you work with or support?
We support local sporting communities, as it’s so important to get the youth out in the fresh air and having fun. This brings people from all walks of life together.

What makes your brand special?
Somerville has a very experienced established team with some team members being in the industry for over 30 years. We provide a unique service that we customise to the family’s needs, likes, traditions, culture and personality of their loved one.

What’s the most remarkable funeral you’ve ever arranged?
We held a funeral for someone who was a passionate about everything ‘Alice in Wonderland.’ We had the celebrant as the Queen of Hearts, the pallbearers as the card soldiers and the burial plot as a cardboard cut-out of the Mad Hatter and the rabbit. For the wake, we hosted a Mad Hatter’s tea party.

Brooke was absolutely amazing, very patient and caring. She let us take as much time as we needed to get through all the difficult decisions etc. Saying goodbye to our beautiful daughter was very hard and we weren’t sure exactly what to expect but Somerville Funerals were all very knowledgeable and experienced. I especially appreciated that they had a JP available and also, they dealt with the funeral insurance company. Another thing they handled very professionally was the fact that we had made the decision to have a private funeral with invitation only and the staff respected this and had to deal with a few tricky situations for us and they do so very professionally. When we walked into the chapel on the day of the funeral the whole set up was absolutely beautiful, they had done an amazing job, we were so happy with everything.
