Somerville Funerals has 2 funeral homes on the Gold Coast; one in Nerang and one in Southport. From here we serve the Gold Coast and surrounding areas in South East Queensland.
Our history
The origins of Somerville Funerals begins with the Somerville family, whose dedication to care, service and high quality funeral services saw their funeral homes succeed throughout south-east Queensland during the 1930s.
In 1932, Somerville Funerals opened up at Southport where it still serves the community today.
Since those early days, the Gold Coast has experienced high growth as the benefits of our lifestyle became known around Australia. To accommodate this growth and the changing demographics it has brought, Somerville Funerals has grown also.
Better service to the community
In 1999 Somerville Funerals opened its funeral home at Nerang, located near Allambe Memorial Park. Our Nerang funeral home provides a special class of funeral service where you will experience unparalleled privacy, beautiful surrounds and an un-rushed atmosphere to say goodbye. There is a spacious chapel with floor to ceiling cathedral windows overlooking the beautiful wetlands, as well as the Reflection Room for more intimate gatherings or a more informal farewell. The proximity of this funeral home to Allambe Memorial Park enables us to provide families with special care when arranging memorial sites within the park.
Combining tradition
In 2017 two of the Gold Coasts most respected funeral homes became one, based in Southport - Somerville Funerals and Metropolitan Funerals merged to become Somerville Funerals inc Metropolitan Funerals. This partnership has given Gold Coast families an improved funeral home and chapel with state of the art facilities, providing families a welcoming place to celebrate the lives and values of their loved ones.
