Somerville Funerals Nerang Location ManagerKristina Gula leads our Nerang team as Location Manager and Funeral Director, with 8 years' service at Somerville. She's supported by Anne Dawson, Karen Dwyer, Sharron Smith and Dee Harper – all experienced funeral arrangers and conductors who have had the honour of helping hundreds of Gold Coast families say goodbye to their loved ones.

How long have you been a funeral director?
Since in 2017, after remembering my grandma saying to me, “Kristy, the day you realise you are a guardian angel in training is the day you will find happiness.”
What do you like about being a funeral director?
Providing relief to the families, making sure the arrangements have been taken care of in a comforting way that suits them and their family. It gives me peace to know I have made a difference.
What makes your brand special?
Somerville has a very experienced established team with some team members being in the industry for over 30 years. We provide a unique service that we customise to the family’s needs, likes, traditions, culture and personality of their loved one. We can provide services for families anywhere anytime.
How do you and your team support families at such an important time?
We actively listen to their needs to create a unique goodbye, celebration of life that is just right for them.
What do you love about the community your funeral home is in?
As I volunteer in a number of areas within the Nerang Community I see so much kindness that is given without asking to those who are in need. Nerang and the surrounding Gold Coast area is filled with so many people that also want to make a positive difference to life.
What’s the most remarkable funeral you’ve ever arranged?
We held a funeral for someone who was a passionate about everything ‘Alice in Wonderland.’ We had the celebrant as the Queen of Hearts, the pallbearers as the card soldiers and the burial plot as a cardboard cut-out of the Mad Hatter and the rabbit. For the wake, we hosted a Mad Hatter’s tea party.
